University of Chile was founded in 1842 and it is the oldest state owned instution for university level education in Chile.
I visited University of Chile in the role of a guest researcher during 6 months in 2012. I collaborated with the Scientific Image Analysis (SCIAN-Lab) group, at the faculty of medicine, in the area of medical image analysis. During my stay I took part in teaching and gave lectures as well.
Main Research Topics
"The Laboratory of Scientific Image Analysis (SCIAN-Lab) develops mathematical tools and computational algorithms to access dynamic, morphologic, and topologic features in experimental systems with a biophysical, biological, or medical background. High speed confocal microscopy in combination with image processing routines unravels the interplay between structure and function in lipid model systems and phenomena on sub-cellular, cellular, and supra-cellular levels in the field of developmental biology, neurobiology, or membrane biophysics."
