During the past few days I have virtualized different versions of Windows OSes using VMware player, the host being a Linux (Ubuntu distribution), and I need to change the physical network adapter in the bridged mode.
There exists a tool for configuring the virtual network connections, called Virtual Network Editor, that is not directly available from the VMPlayer GUI in Linux. In my Ubuntu installation the tool is available in: /usr/lib/vmware/bin/ and it is called, simply enough, vmware-netcfg. Launching this application the following GUI opens
As can be seen from the above image, using the Virtual Network Editor tool, amongst other things, the physical network adapter of the bridged connection can be chosen. Apart from the network configuration tool, there seem to be other interesting looking tools as well...
